Many groups and individuals have contributed to this project which surveys important academic works on the topic of Ultimate Reality. The initial framework of this bibliography was set with the help of my colleagues at the Templeton-Oxford Seminars who spent three summers together discussing various issues concerning deep aspects of reality. Thanks are particulary due to Michael Boivin, Alexei Nestruk, Alan Padgett, Dennis Temple, and Jitse van der Meer, who set aside their busy research schedules to discuss a number of important issues that are related to this project.
There are also many experts who contributed their expertise to this bibliographical survey. My sincere thanks go to those who participated in this bibliography project: Leslie Ballentine, John D. Barrow, Gregory Benford, David Deutsch, Robert Emmons, Neils Gregerson, Owen Gingerich, David Griffin, John Haught, Max Jammer, Herold Koenig, William Miller, Roland Omnés, Thomas Oord, Peter Papadopol, Clifford Pickover, David Reiter, Franco Selleri, Keith Ward, Bill Williams, and H. Dieter Zeh.
Special thanks go to the personnel of the Pascal Centre for making their large database on Science and Religion available to us. I would like to express our special appreciation to Jitse van der Meer for the arrangement for the Pascal Centre contributions to our database compilation, and to Richard van Holst for spending long hours searching the database and transforming search results into a much more accessible form. We also had significant help from the Society of URAM (Ultimate Reality and Meaning), especially through Tibor Horvath and John Perry who allowed us to benefit from twenty-five years of their labor.
The comprehensive survey was done by the dedicated team at Canyon Institute for Advanced Studies. Special appreciation is extended to David F. Siemens, Jr. for searching the extensive Philosophical Index; Jim Armstrong for checking major internet sources such as arXiv; Amanda Hiner for searching various anthologies and science journals; Kelly Fitzsimmons for checking all the past URAM journals and performing numerous individual searches.
The project would have been neither complete nor effective without our talented technology team, as we needed to process thousands of potential citations. I extend my appreciation to Isaac Choi for designing the initial data entry form, Jim Armstrong for extracting and transforming data into final formats, and Chris Dietz for supporting the posting of the bibliography on the web.
Finally, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Sir John Templeton, Charles Harper, and Paul Wason at the John Templeton Foundation for their encouragements and generous support, without which this bibliography project would not have been possible.
